You Do You! RV Freedom

RV Freedom in Dixie National Forest, Utah

So the idea of being able to travel has given you the want for freedom. The question still remains: how much freedom do you want? Another great question is: what does freedom look like to you?

One thing about the RV lifestyle is freedom and that freedom comes in a variety of different answers. These answers are not always clear until you take the time to experience those freedoms.  Much like any freedoms we have in these beautiful United States is the freedom to roam. The freedom to live where we want and live anyway we wish.

RV Freedom is Not Cheap

The great misnomer is that the RV lifestyle is a cheap way of living. Sure, it can be, but that van down by the river can cost you almost twice as much these days. Used will still fetch a pretty penny so selecting an RV for freedom may cost more than you might think right now.

Since the Coronavirus many are looking for these freedoms of travel. Many are looking for a way to escape in case it happens again. Many don’t want to fly anymore because of the scare that the pandemic puts on the world so the self contained way to travel is in an RV.

RV Freedom Post-Pandemic

There is a lot of freedom that comes from an RV lifestyle and one great freedom is to travel self contained. This reasoning is what has driven the RV market through the roof. It is all about supply and demand. In 2020 during the pandemic there was hardly any traveling so RV manufacturers slowed down production. While many saw it as a reason to look into RV freedom.

In 2021 production was lagging because so many people were not having any part of being locked up for another summer and wanted themselves some RV freedom. So they bought an RV in turn killing the market and ramping up production by the manufacturers. This production made for poorly built RVs unfortunately. Basically there was minimal time for quality control. The theory was to get it out the door and let the dealerships fix the problems under warranty.

RV Dealers and Warranties

There is no substitute for being self reliant but not everyone has the same skillset. Some do not know the difference between a crescent wrench and a hammer, no they are not the same thing. This is where many rely heavily on dealerships. These same dealerships will not do anything under warranty until it is authorized by the manufacturer. That may take longer than your warranty’s lifespan. This is mostly because of the over abundance of claims due to poor quality.

Why Buy New When Used Will Do

Buying new may sound great but as you can see now might not be the right time for that. If you are pretty handy, used can be just as good, if not better. The bugs are usually all worked out and if it was taken care of may turn out to be a good alternative.

Whatever you choose, choose what works for you and your adventures. You Do You!
