You Do You! RV Selection

Photo test

Selecting the right RV is a personal preference. You might like to go campground to campground while others like the seclusion of boondocking. Maybe you are more into simply getting away to the National or State forests unplugging for a while with a book or a fishing pole. You could be an avid hunter that wants to be comfortable in the middle of nowhere while harvesting a deer. Here is one that hit us, minimizing life while seeing the country. At any rate the point is for you to do you while selecting an RV.

Hobbies and an RV

The goal is to enjoy life, that is why you might want to get an RV. Remember life is not a dress rehearsal, you only get one shot at this. Make it count! Selecting the right RV based on your hobbies and quest for more life are first. First? You ask, yep first.

If you enjoy riding in a side by side or any offroading adventure you may want to get something that can get you where you want to go without breaking an axle while still being able to get the toy there. Not only getting the fun to the camp but making sure you have what you need while you’re there out in the middle of nowhere. You know, like making repairs.  If it is going to happen it will when you least expect it.

If you’re into fishing you want to get something that can incorporate kayaks or a boat while having the storage you need for the big catch. Fishing poles are long and easily broken so racks built in, to safely store them are key. The biggest thing is having tools. Are you starting to see a trend here? Tools are important to this lifestyle, hobbyists or professional adventurists.

Maybe you just want to get out and enjoy all the RV parks in the country. If that is you then, you do you. No judgment here. We love our campgrounds and community too, but sometimes you just need to get away from it all and keeping it simple does that for us. Ask the real question here; What makes you happy in life?

Figuring Out What You Need

Everyone has a different idea of adventure. Maybe you want to travel and see the country on your way to Disney World, the Grand Canyon or you just want to move about the country to do a trade that can support the lifestyle of seeing the country. These are great needs for an RV also. Always remember your best adventures are what you want them to be. You do you! First not last.

Leaving It All Behind

Many think they will need all the same amenities as they have in a house, like a washer and drier or a closet full of shoes. Question is are these things wants or needs? Not gonna lie we have purged multiple times and still feel we could purge more. Yep I have more shoes, mostly boots than she does.  We typically wear the same clothes, no its not gross, and need the same things from day to day. Once again; You do You! Those are the needs. Things like a full size three burner gas grill that weighs 200 lbs. are wants, unless that’s your thing. Again, You do You. Remember weight is important. More weight, bigger vessel, truck to haul it to your fortress of solitude.

Loving the Decision

We enjoy many hobbies, one of which is riding our Harley and riding when we can, but we also enjoy being secluded from time to time too. The Harley is not exactly an offroad vehicle so this puts us a little closer to civilization than we may want to be sometimes but far enough to not be noticed and close enough to enjoy our hobbies. It is also a great second means of transportation while we are in civilization, or at least close enough to it.

Fifth Wheel Toyhauler

The more confusing part of this is we also enjoy seeing the many things this country has to offer. This combination has put us into a fifth wheel toyhauling RV. Yep, it’s more utilitarian than others with no fancy countertops, no washer and dryer, no self leveling system. It has everything we need to live full time while still being able to get us a little off the beaten path and fix what breaks without a call to a dealer that will tell you there is a three month waiting list. This is what works for us.

Anyway you look at it, just as you select the right tool for the job will get the job done, selecting the right RV is the tool to achieve your goals in whatever your reason is for looking into an RV.
